Product Review
I received the Lollipop Baby Monitor right before the holidays and after over a month of using it, I have no idea how I went a year without it!
Our previous monitor was not actually a baby monitor, but simply a WiFi based camera. It worked ok for awhile but then we had issues with the IPad app just shutting off in the middle of the night. Clearly this is not good when you have a little babe!
I started doing my research and asking around for recommendations for a new monitor (my only real requirement was that it was WiFi based but otherwise I was open to anything!) Hands down, the bulk of the responses from my mom Facebook groups and internet searches was the Lollipop Baby Monitor.
My Review
Design
When it comes to a baby monitor “cute” was certainly not a criteria I thought I could add to the list but I was wrong. Look at how seemlessly it blends into Aria’s wall.
It is a very simple/clean design, yet has a chic look compared to others and comes in 3 adorable colors; green, blue, and pink. I also love the silicone material it is made of as it is super malleable which makes it great for positioning exactly the view you want.
Installation
I was amazed out how easy this was {See my Instagram story highlight for details}. There are a few options for how to set up your Lollipop: you can set it standing on a piece of furniture, loop it around the crib handle, or mount it on the wall. I have attached a few videos from their website below to demonstrate the options. Aria is one so we had to go with the wall mount so she wouldn’t play with it.
Functionality
Event Video: This is an underrated feature and one I wasn’t convinced would make a difference for me; however I have learned otherwise. This is a screenshot from my phone of a few event videos (the red dots indicate noise decibel was higher than it should be = crying) It records a 30 second clip during any “event”; an event can qualify as crying or general movement. This is nice because I glance at it in the morning and see her general quality of sleep. One time I woke up and saw she was awake for 45 minutes in the middle of the night just sitting up playing with her blankey, silent. CRAZY! I never would have known otherwise.
Audio Mode: This is one of my favorites. I am generally a really light sleeper, especially since having A. I love the ability to turn the screen off so I don’t have the light from her monitor blaring in my face all night. You can switch to just have the audio on and turn the video off.
Clarity: One super important feature of any monitor is the image clarity and this is where I believe Lollipop is light years ahead. Our old camera was very pixelated, blurry, and buffered a lot. Below is a view of our Lollipop feed during the day and at night. The automatic night vision image is incredibly clear.
WiFi: As I mentioned I was adamant about having a WiFi monitor. I use my IPad mini as a screen but I love the ability to check it from my phone when I am out {although I try hard to “disconnect” when taking me time!}
We had a minor issue with the WiFi connection at the beginning but their customer service was super responsive and quick to assist us in getting things back up and running.
A few other notable features are the ability to connect up to 4 cameras at once, it doubles as a sound machine, and you can share with multiple users!
