Here I share how I achieved a perfect balance of princess and pink in Aria’s nursery!
I don’t think many people have been more excited about finding out they were having a little girl than me. I have always been that pink, sparkly, princess type girl; danced, cheered, and competed in pageants, one of those kind of girls. I would wear a crown for any occasion, or no occasion at all. So when I found out I was having a baby girl, I knew she would basically be dripping in glitter (at least while I had a say, haha)
I was SO excited to start putting together the nursery of my dreams so I immediately hopped on Pinterest and started my vision board. –>Lets be honest, this board was started in like 2015. I had a hard time deciding on a “theme” and pretty much landed on just a color scheme: pink, gold, and white.
Now, I realize this may not be other people’s taste, but anyone that saw Aria’s nursery wouldn’t expect anything less from me. I struggled with balancing having the maximum amount of glitter possible with still having a beautiful and classy nursery. So I had to sit down and settle on my staple pieces.
I knew for a fact I was having a glitter wall {although Evan would have disagreed on the “fact” part .. more on that later} So this was my “must have” and I created her room around that. I also found a beautiful crib skirt (I know, a weird thing to base your whole room around) but it truly set the tone for this room.
So without further adieu , here are my nursery details!

Furniture
Crib {Pottery Barn $399} – I was lucky enough to borrow this beauty from my brother and sister in law. This pottery barn crib was the perfect classic piece for her nursery and we loved the sentiment that it was my nephews’ first.
Rocker– {Amazon $289} – I had a hard time finding the perfect chair for her nursery. I knew I wanted a stark white recliner but believe it or not that is not easy to come by (at least for under $800!) I was shocked to find it on Amazon of all places! It was delivered in two pieces that slipped together very easily. The microfiber is so soft and easy to clean and the white is exactly what I wanted. Also, I can vouch for its comfort after the many many hours I have spent in this chair to date. Not to mention, everyone told me I was crazy for having a white rocker in the nursery because it would get dirty, but News Flash: spit up is white. You’re welcome 🙂
Dresser {Bob’s Discount Furniture $449} – I planned long term with this dresser. I toyed with getting a basic white Ikea dresser but I loved the idea of having a large mirror that was detachable. We currently have a changing table on top but intend to attach the mirror when she is older for her “big girl” room. I also love that there are multiple size drawers and the crystal knobs are a beautiful accent.
Changing table– {Amazon $46} – I added this changing kit to the top of our dresser to secure the changing pad. Note: there is a “white” and a “bianca white.” Ours is “white.”
Walls
This is my absolute favorite part of my entire house. Evan and I debated heavily on the glitter wall. And by debate I mean I waited for him to go on a bachelor party across the country and decided for us.
First we painted the entire room pink. We used this color by Valspar from Lowe’s. I thought it was the perfect soft pink (after trying probably 5 different samples.) On the accent wall, first we tried the paint crystals from Lowe’s that you can add to paint but it was not nearly enough to achieve the look I was going for. You could BARELY see any flecks of glitter.
So I spent some time on Pinterest and used this link as a tutorial to amp up the glitter game. I tried iridescent crystals first and still didn’t love how it turned out, so I went through with a second coat of gold, and it was perfect.
I used a sponge brush to apply the glitter glue mix and brushed it on so it wasn’t clumpy. I also used about 4 times the recommended amount of glitter.
Accents
Baby Sofa* {Amazon $464} – I am so bummed I cannot provide a direct link to the baby sofa we have. I found it at HomeGoods (for $100) and thought for sure my husband would veto this purchase but he surprised me by saying we definitely needed it! I have taken all of her monthly milestone photos on this couch because it is just to precious not to use on the regular. Now, at 10 months, she enjoys climbing all over it.
Rug {Amazon $97} This rug is like a beautiful cloud that ties the whole room together. It is a relatively longer shag but it is a gorgeous piece especially for the price! I was really pleased with the quality of this rug, my only complaint is sometimes it is tough to vacuum but I guess that is the nature of having a long shag rug.
Mirror* {Amazon $129.00} – My mother in law found this mirror for us years ago at a second hand store that purchases from estate sales and it has traveled through 3 moves with us! I had this big opening on this wall and for the life of me could not decide what belonged there. Then something clicked and I remembered this mirror in our basement. It fills the space perfectly and Aria loves looking at herself in it!
Book shelf {Ikea $14.99/each} – These photo shelves are the perfect pieces to display your favorite books. Ours are the 45″ shelves.
Foot stool {Target $109.99} I DID NOT PAY THIS MUCH FOR A FOOT STOOL lol. I waited for this to go on sale and paid half the price. Although I have a recliner, I highly suggest getting a footstool as well. You want to get your feet up as you will be spending A LOT of time in this chair. And getting in and out of a reclined recliner with a sleeping baby is not easy. I love how sturdy this is because now she likes to stand and hold onto it. Not to mention it matches her little sofa perfectly!
End Table* {Amazon $139.99} – Mine is from HomeGoods and was about $50 if I remember correctly. However this link is to a similar (more expensive 🙁 ) version. I would hunt around for an inexpensive end table! It is certainly not a focal point of the room but a necessity to functionality! It currently has her humidifier and sound machine as a permanent fixture, and about 3 bottles at any given time haha.
Book case {Wayfair $41.99} A book case is a staple in a nursery. We spend so many mornings and nights reading books, or at least pulling them all off of the shelf. I didn’t want anything massive so this was exactly what I was looking for.
Curtain rod & hold backs {Bed Bath and Beyond total $145.00} – There are 3 pieces to this: the rod, the finials, and the holdbacks. I chose “warm gold” as the color and am obsessed with these glitzy accents. Don’t forget your 20% off coupon!
Decor
Wall Art– {Etsy $7.02} – I debated a lot about hanging her name sign over her crib because that is where I originally envisioned it. However with all of the glitter it kind of got lost. So I chose these printable signs from Etsy instead!
Frames {Amazon $34.99/ each} These are 16″ x 20″ because I needed a lot of space to be taken up by these prints.
Name sign {Etsy $40.00}- Early in my pregnancy I had a dream about walking into my baby’s room and seeing her (yes I saw a girl!) in her crib with the name Aria above it. Although that isn’t where this name sign ended up, it did become her name <3 I loved this one in particular because of the detail in the “A.”
Paper fans* {Amazon $17.97) – These decorative paper fans surrounding her name were actually decorations for my baby shower. After hanging her name on the wall it felt like I needed something more and I remembered I had these! I put a nail in the wall and hung each fan around it super easily. I am not sure exactly where the ones I had are from but here is a link for similar ones!
Lamp {Target $34.99} – We actually didn’t have a lamp in her room for a few months. Honestly, its probably because she didn’t sleep in there for the first 2 months. So once we began using her room more I felt like a lamp was good for night time reading and spending quiet time in her room.
PS- that is a crown around the base. It was the cake topper from my shower and it is just so pretty I had to find somewhere for it, haha. Told you I’m extra.
Bow Display – My husband built this to house all of her bows so I can see them all easily. I like that it hangs behind the door so it is functional without taking up a lot of inventory on her wall.
Glass jars {Target $12.99 & $19.99} – Technically these are candle holders but I had a vision for bow and paci holders! (That “A” was also a cake topper from my shower)
Linens
Sheet {Buy Buy Baby $24.99}- I have two different sheets I got between that are essentially white with a small gold design. I wanted something basic as this wall has so much going on already.
Crib skirt {Pottery Barn Kids $103} – This was the very first piece I found that a lot of my design was centered around. I love how it was multi layered giving it a lot of volume as well as the sequins being just enough without adding too much more bling to this wall.
Curtains {Kohl’s $29.99/each} – These Lauren Conrad curtains area dream. They are a beautiful white with the smallest amount of iridescent sequins on them. (Again, I had a constant battle with tacky vs pretty when finding “sparkly” items for her room but these were the perfect balance for a plain wall)
Note: they say “blackout” but they definetly are not. I have blinds behind the these curtains and light still comes through. But I am okay with that because I want Aria to be able to sleep in different conditions.
Changing pad cover {Amazon $19.99} – The material of this cover was my deciding factor. It is super soft yet still pink and sparkly 🙂 I rotate two of these as well.
