Alright, this post if for the dads out there. As we all know this year is not your standard Mother’s Day. You can’t plan a nice spa day, a fun day out with the family, or a nice dinner. So, here are a few last minute, easy to pull off ways to make mama feel extra special without ever leaving your house!
My number 1 piece of advice is plan SOMETHING. Even if she says she doesn’t want you to or you are confined to your home. You may still be able to order a gift and get it in time, but most of us are really just looking for a little extra love on this day <3
1. Let her sleep
Period. No restrictions. As long as she wants, whenever she wants. Maybe that means sleep in and or take a mid day nap, or even better… BOTH! This is what she wants, I promise. This also may just mean laying in bed scrolling through her phone or watching TV but just general uninterrupted relaxation will go a long way.
2. Pop some bubbly
Clearly going out to brunch is a no go (for most of us); but brunch is bound to put a smile on your babes face. Have some bubbly on stand by for when she gets up and make breakfast or order from your favorite spot. What is better than being handed a mimosa after sleeping in ?!
3. Go on a flower hunt
What is sweeter than a homemade flower bouquet? The added bonus of some quiet, alone time for mom while you are on your walk! It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, a personalized dandelion bouquet for mama is perfect on this day.
4. Make crafts with the kids
This year there is no “Muffins with Mom” or handmade crafts coming home from daycare, so dads this is your time to shine. I get so envious of mom’s whose babes are in daycare and they get so many crafts with their kids hand print or footprint made into a flower, we eat this shit up. Here is a link to a Pinterest board with some easy ideas using items you likely have around the house. But you don’t have to be Picasso to let mom know how amazing she is, try my FREE printable instead!
**Helpful tip: Don’t forget to clean up after!
5. Wine and cheese happy hour
Ahhh… our favorite time of day. If the weather cooperates, consider a little picnic! Nothing wins me over like a killer charcuterie and a glass of Rose; this will definitely be a hit with mom and the kiddos can play outside while you indulge.
6. Order from her favorite restaurant
Unless she is definitely one for a home cooked meal, I suggest letting her choose where to get her favorite takeout. Simply because dishes are an element in any home cooked meal and this eliminates that extra stress for Mom. I highly suggest this as a night to eat after the little ones are in bed some you both can enjoy this meal and unwind together.
7. Put together a slideshow
This can be a really simple way to steal her heart this Mother’s Day. While you may not have the best photos of her and your babes, I am sure she has posted some on social media.
Here is a quick “how to” on putting together a slideshow:
- Step 1: Find photos: While you may not have a ton of great photos on your phone, I am sure she has posted some on social media. Create an album in your phone and save them all to it
- Step 2: Download the InShot app: you can add all of your photos easily to create an awesome movie. You can edit the time of each photo and even add text and music to jazz it up!
- Step 3: Pour a glass of wine and enjoy together 🙂
Although this isn’t how any of us envisioned celebrating this day, there are still some simple ways to make Mom feel loved and appreciated. Wishing all of the mamas out there a very Happy Mother’s Day <3
